Since inception, GO-JEK has aimed to improve the economic growth of Indonesia. Using technology as a means of social impact, GO-JEK has created jobs, improved livelihoods of multiple people and helped nudge micro-entrepreneurs.

Today, GO-JEK is a household name in Indonesia; almost a verb. Here’s a quick update on some of the super cool work we’ve done over the years:

As soon as you land in Jakarta, you’ll notice a sea of green helmets. With more than 900,000 drivers in Jakarta alone, GO-JEK is the metropolitan’s friendly transport provider. Before GO-JEK, a driver would earn an average of 3.3 million rupiah. Since GO-JEK provided a platform and connected passengers with drivers, monthly earnings increased to 4.2 million.

If you’re ever in Indonesia, talk to these drivers. Learn from them, ask them what it’s like to have a reliable partner, a company that cares for its people.

The story of a single mother who was able to purchase a food franchise from her GO-JEK earnings is not only touching, but speak volumes of GO-JEK’s impact. After joining GO-JEK as a driver in 2015, Nuridah has been able to out her daughter to university. There are thousands of these untold stories in Indonesia.

About 200 engineers make software decisions that trickle down to affect the lives of about 260 million people in Indonesia.

GO-JEK has helped more than 30,000+ people with different talents to be able to earn money and make a living. As a company, GO-JEK has been able to create jobs from thin air for these individuals. Take the story of Sumani who was physically handicapped after an accident in 1997 and had his leg amputated. Today, as a GO-BOX driver, Sumani helps people move houses and lives independently.

After partnering with GO-FOOD, micro entrepreneurs have added 80% more customers and nearly doubled their overall orders. Today, Eatlah gets 90% of its orders from GO-FOOD.

In all, GO-JEK has created new jobs to address 15% of the country’s employment, or about 1 million people. And that’s just 3 years since the app was launched.
